SUMMER SUNGLASS TRENDS- 2010/2011

FUTURE TRENDS

Apparently Cat-eye sunglasses , Round Glasses are going to be in as well as super Futuristic sunnies and super Retro (but then again, isn't Retro always in trend). The only problem is how to work it like the Audrey Hepburn’s and Marylin Monroe's of our time? Here's how some celebs are rocking it…

TRENDS I LOVE TO LOVE:

The wayfarers

The original wayfarer was a cool retro bombshell that hit the streets this year. The new range Ray Ban have brought out is a lot more fun. Play around with these fresh new looks from their range. I love the innovative "Subway" patterns and the "Floral" designs are chic and original.

The Aviators

I really cant help being in love with this Top Gun look. I'm loving the white frame at the moment because white is just fresh and funky. But the trend going forward will definitely have a lot to do with the shade of the lens as well as frame.

The Big-I'm-a-celebrity sunglasses

Also known as the I'm-a-insect-but-I-make-it-work look. We all have a pair, and we love it-lets be honest here.

Regardless of what the trends are, I love sunglasses for the simple reason that they complete your look. You could be wearing a pair of the fugliest looking casuals, but slap on a pair of sunnies, and suddenly- it works.

Always chic, always inspired.

*Add some Moschino to your Mojo * Spring Summer 2010/2011.

Moschino- Cheap and chic was the name of this line (after my own heart), and Oh my G-ness. Was it a yummy array of colors!

I wanted to start my first “real entry” with something energetic and vibrant, because when I watched this show, I felt it. Now I must say, that obviously I’m not inclined to start wearing an assault of colors, because hell, I’m quite positive, that most of these looks can only be pulled off on the catwalk. But the catwalk is the window to all upcoming trends (and I sometimes feel the window to my soul), so here are my thoughts.

I love the modern twist on the classic 50’s dress. Prints- Gorgeous! How can you go wrong with that bubbly blue? The fabrics are breathable, light and in the case of the shirts, bang on trend- slightly sheer. And the shoes, its like Summer itself is wrapped around their ankles. The high-waisted cargo style shorts and skirts are also another trend to look out for this season. And of course- I must also comment on the hair, messy chic. I do love it.

So anyway to sum up, here are the tips I got, à la Moschino:

  1. COLOUR- go vibrant! Bright blue, tangerines, yellows, greens-whatever you like- it’s Summer!
  2. PRINTS- Mix it up! Matching prints, are soooo last century J
  3. ACCESORIZE- add a funky blue or pink belt (even if you wearing orange) or even better a gorgeous pair of bright shoes!
  4. GO FOR BRIGHT LIPS-remember whatever works best for your skin tone

Always chic, always inspired.

The biggest trick to staying chic...

While throughout this blog I mention tips on which bags/shoes/colours etc. are THE hottest for the season, or tips to pull together a style both in trend and unique to you, NONE and I mean NONE of these fabulous tips will count for anything unless you can be chic from within. And while most of us are still trying to Eat, Pray and Love our way through life, I think it’s always good to remind ourselves:

While you may not be 100% perfect in the eyes of the world, you are, and always will be 100% you- and really, that’s all that matters.

To me being chic and stylish is being able to use the beautiful masterpieces and current trends as INSPIRATION, by inspiring you to look into your personal wardrobe in a fresh and enlightened way.

I love watching FTV and dreaming about the collections, I have a deep appreciation and passion for all things chic-I mean who doesn’t? But this blog is about taking all of those beautiful art forms and transpiring that into everyday life.

So this is my journey, with a passion for fashion, a small pocket (but big dreams) I have but one goal-if all else fails, do it in style.

Always chic, always inspired.
